The Royal Opera House
Participants: 300
Venue: Royal Opera House
This surprise 65th birthday party had one of the longest gestation periods, in the history of Events a la Carte – two years from initial quotation to execution. Owing to our client’s association with the Royal Choral Society, The Royal Opera House was the venue of choice.
Invitations were mailed out, in secret many months in advance to ensure the attendance of 300 guests, some of whom travelled from the Caribbean and Australia.
The Villar Floral Hall and Amphitheatre bar had been decorated with 1000 custom printed balloons, twisted and tied into all manner of sculptural shapes by our team of balloon artists.
On the day, our unsuspecting “Birthday boy” arrived expecting to attend a charity recital, to be greeted by his grandchildren and assembled family, friends and colleagues. Guests were treated to a specially created dinner by caterers Searcy’s whilst we unveiled the entertainment. Highlights included the presentation of a giant birthday cake whilst the Royal Choral Society sang “Happy Birthday” - Just when he thought it was safe to go back to his seat, a beautiful girl erupted from the cake and sauntered over for a birthday kiss.
